Designing Process:
For my second magazine cover, I had two versions in mind - below attached in the version that I opted against. I have kept the same text for both of the versions as my main goal was to experiment with different cover designs, and for that, I only had to change the alignment, colors and font styles of the headings. Screenshots of the designing process are also attached below.
My goal was to draft these covers to look like an actual magazine that people could pick up and read, so keeping that in mind, I used a bright, eye-catching picture of the artist and used simpler fonts in order to balance the scale and make it realistic. However, to accommodate my creativity into the covers, I have experimented with colors more than I did with my first magazine cover. In the second version, I used the same color theme, which was shades of pink and red. However, I toned some of them down until I was satisfied with the selected colors. Placement was the second thing I learnt more about with this activity: to make the magazine cover neater, it is necessary to balance out the text, and that can be seen in the screenshots where I first tried to arrange all of them only on the right side of the cover (version 2) but with the finalized cover, I have subheadings on either sides so it looks balanced. Overall, this activity made me more confident in using the software because I've learnt that all magazine covers are mostly only about different shapes and colors, font styles, and sizes. So, it took me less time to draft this as compared to the first magazine cover. In addition to this, I have a better grip on these designs now because I have experimented all throughout these two activities, which has equipped me with the skills needed to draft and actually magazine.
