Media Studies (9607) is designed for students who want to become more literate of how modern social media works; media plays an important role in establishing newer trends, as well as shaping social norms. This, from a broader aspect, affects even the world economies. Hence why, it is becoming an increasingly important pursuit for students.
This course gives students an opportunity to be equipped with new skills set that are relevant to the modern-day. It includes the analysis of media of communication as well as its influence on the consumers. This means that students will develop critical thinking and media literacy, both of which are essential for work in professional fields. They would be familiar with the key terms of media analysis, various softwares used for designing, editing or publishing, as well as the theoretical knowledge of how the media, cultural and creative industries work.
